About Assessments

Rachel has been a great person to work with for my end-of-year homeschool assessments. I have been meeting with her for the past several years, and each meeting has been successful. We understand each other, and I never feel intimidated or like Rachel is judging me during the assessments. It feels like a conversation about what I had studied that year. She shows an interest in me as a person.  Rachel approaches the meetings in a laid-back way, but I know that she is serious about her work. -Sydney

I always look forward to our end-of-year homeschool assessments with Rachel.  She is kind, personable, genuinely interested, and professional in her interactions with us and in her written reports.  We have had a consistently positive and enjoyable experience with Rachel and I give her my highest recommendation. -Sydney’s Mom

About Classes

This class challenged me, in a good way, to really think critically about the books we read, explain my opinions, and looking more closely about the plot of a given story. I found myself wondering about reasons for specific characters' actions what influenced them. I loved the discussions with other students. It was interesting to hear some different views and discuss my own. I greatly enjoyed the writing part of the class and improved my own skills in various types of writing. -Noah

about tutoring

My son was born with Auditory Processing Disorder and had trouble recognizing subtle differences between sounds within words. My son began seeing Rachel when he was seven, and she quickly pinpointed the sounds and letters he was having issues with. Every week, she had games, activities, and worksheets that held my son's focus, peaked his interest in learning, and helped with his problem areas. Rachel encouraged him to use his incredible imagination to write his own stories and read them aloud to our family. This was a huge accomplishment and stepping stone for my son's unique learning process. My son is now fourteen and reads on grade level. He loves to read and write and looks back fondly on his time with Rachel. As a parent of a child with a learning disability, I can't say enough about how positive of an experience we had with Rachel. -Jennifer
